NFL 2010: Week 3 Picks

Atlanta Falcons (+4) at New Orleans Saints
The Falcons proved with a big win over the Cardinals that they have a team that is ready to contend with the big boys of the NFL. The Saints managed to sneak out with a win Monday against the 49ers even though the Saints did not bring their game last Monday Night. But now they have to play a Falcons team after a short week. Gonna be another nail Biter.
Outright Win: Falcons
v/s the Spread: Falcons (+4)

San Francisco 49ers (-2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs

The 49ers imploded against the Seahawks week 1 and then beat themselves to give away the Monday Night game. Still in a week NFC West, they are very much in it if they can pick themselves up and play efficiently. Although the Chiefs are 2-0, they are not favored over the 0-2 49ers. It will be hard to beat the Chiefs at loud arrow head stadium though.
Outright Win: 49ers
v/s the Spread: 49ers (-2.5)

Detroit Lions (+11) at Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings need this one bad. The weak Lions secondary could very well be the spark that the dormant Vikings offense needs. Shaun Hill is a capable care-taker QB, who can have a spirited game or two. No way he can keep it going.
Outright Win: Vikings
v/s the Spread: Lions (+11)

Dallas Cowboys (+3) at Houston Texans

The Cowboys, like the Vikings are in a dire state with an 0-2 record. The good part is they do not have any team in the NFC East running away with the division. the bad part is they play the surging Texans, who after years of disappointing seasons are finally playing like a team worthy of winning a division.
Outright Win: Texans
v/s the Spread: Texans (-3)

Tennessee Titans (+3) at NY Giants

The Titans could not pull off a win against Big Ben less Steelers, who totally shut down the Titans' running game. Which in turn, put Vince Young in the position to make things happen, and he just crumbled. They should have no problem running against the Giants, who let the Colts run all over them last week.
Outright Win: Titans
v/s the Spread: Titans (+3)

Buffalo Bills (+14.5) at New England Patriots

You never get tired of hearing this stat: The Patriots have beaten the Bills 13 straight times. tat magic number will become 14.
Outright Win: Patriots
v/s the Spread: Patriots (-14.5)

Cleveland Browns (+10.5) at Baltimore Ravens

The Browns might give the Ravens offense a chance to break open with all their new weapons. It will be very worrying if Flacco does not end up having a big game. If the Browns can avoid turnovers, they should be able to keep this game close, just like the Bengals did.
Outright Win: Ravens
v/s the Spread: Browns (+10.5)

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Carolina Panthers
The Bengals had a tough first 2 games (Patriots and Ravens), and will be more than happy to take on a Panthers team that is ready to let Jimmy Clausen take over reins at QB.
Outright Win: Bengals
v/s the Spread: Bengals (-3)

Washington Redskins (-3.5) at St Louis Rams

The Rams have had decent games the first 2 games, keeping it close against the Cardinals and then the Raiders. This one will not be close.
Outright Win: Redskins
v/s the Spread: Redskins (-3.5)

Philadelphia Eagles (-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Its Vick...no it's Kolb....no wait....it's going to be Vick. What a mess? Good opportunity for Vick to strengthen his position as a starter against the Jaguars secondary.
Outright Win: Eagles
v/s the Spread: Eagles (-3)

Indianapolis Colts (-5.5) at Denver Broncos
The Colts will have to win this one old Colt style, throwing the ball. One more test to make sure the Colts are the same old Colts of the past decade. It's not going to be easy winning at Mile High City though. That too against a Josh McDaniels offense.
Outright Win: Colts
v/s the Spread: Colts (-5.5)

San Diego Chargers (-5.5) Seattle Seahawks
The Chargers start a soft stretch of their schedule starting with the Seahawks. With their running game hurting, expect Rivers to throw the ball a lot. Which, normally would not be a bad idea anyways.
Outright Win: Chargers
v/s the Spread: Chargers (-5.5)

Oakland Raiders (+4.5) at Arizona Cardinals
Flash News: The Raiders and the Cardinals are not that good this year. Not sure how many people will be excited to see Bruce Gradkowski going against Derek Anderson.
Outright Win: Raiders
v/s the Spread: Raiders (+4.5)

NY Jets (+2) at Miami Dolphins
Lets not get carried away with Mark Sanchez tearing apart the Patriots defense. the Dolphins are no slackers on D. Lets see what the Sanchize brings this week.
Outright Win: Dolphins
v/s the Spread: Dolphins (-2)

Upset Special of the Week

Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is the most surprising clash of undefeated teams this week. The Steelers will like to extend their winning streak to 3 games without Big Ben. The Bucs will like to do the same to keep up with the Saints and Falcons of their division. If the Bucs can manage to score early, forcing Charlie Batch to make plays, they might just be able to pull this off.

Outright Win: Buccaneers
v/s the Spread: Buccaneers (+2.5)

Homer Pick of the Week

Green Bay Packers (-3) at Chicago Bears

The longest rivalry in the history of pro football: Packers Vs Bears! Both teams will bring it Monday Night. The Packers were pre-season favorites to win the division. The Bears are post-week 2 darlings of the NFL, after they beat the Cowboys. How Cutler matches up against the Packers' 3-4 Defense that gave him fits last year? How will the Packers Offensive Line hold up against the Julius Peppers on the Bears D line? Can the Packers hold off the surging Mike Martz offense? Can the Bears make Clay Mathews Jr. a non-factor? All these questions and more will be answered Monday Night.
Outright Win: Packers
v/s the Spread: Packers (-3)

Last Week:
Outright Win Record: 10-6
v/s the Spread Record: 5-9-2

Year to Date:
Outright Win Record: 21-11
v/s the Spread Record: 15-14-3
